Description
Ultra Calcium Tablets
Ultra Calcium provides a rich source of calcium which contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and teeth, carefully balanced with vitamin D which contributes to normal absorption and utilisation of calcium.
Ensuring an adequate intake of calcium is vital for men and women of all ages and is especially important:
- For growing children
- Throughout pregnancy and breast-feeding
- During and after the menopause
- For elderly men and women
Bullet points added
Peak bone mass, obtained during childhood and adolescent growth is known to be of major importance in maintaining bones later in life. The UK Department of Health recommends that people aged 65 years and over should take a daily supplement of 10µg of vitamin D, the exact level in Ultra Calcium (per two tablets).
Bone Mineral Density
Calcium and vitamin D contribute to the maintenance of normal bones, teeth and muscle function. They also help to reduce the loss of bone mineral in post-menopausal women††. Low bone mineral density is a risk factor for osteoporotic bone fractures‡.
Cell Division & Neurotransmission
Calcium and vitamin D have a role in the process of cell division. In addition, calcium contributes to normal neurotransmission.
Energy Release
Calcium also contributes to normal energy release and the normal function of digestive enzymes.
With D3, the preferred form of vitamin D
Ultra Calcium provides 20μg vitamin D, in the preferred D3 form as produced naturally by our skin when exposed to sunlight. As well as being important to support normal blood calcium levels, vitamin D also contributes to the normal function of the immune system.
The 20μg level of vitamin D included in Ultra Calcium is within limits recommended by the Food Standards Agency and reflects the latest research recommending general increases in vitamin D intake levels in the population.
†† A beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of at least 1200mg calcium & 20µg vitamin D from all sources. ‡ In women aged 50 years and older.
